Abstract

The effect of laser output power on the damage of TiO2 ceramic coatings prepared by APS(Air Plasma Spray) under the condition of irradiation was studied. The mechanism of the coating damage was investigated. The results showed that: the TiO2 coating damage became serious with the increase of the output power of the laser. When the power of the laser was 3900 W, the TiO2 coating was destroyed. The thermal effect area was found in the matrix. The micro damage morphology of the TiO2 coatings included mainly radiate structure and branch structure. The energy of lasers was depleted by the melting-recrystallization and propagation of the cracks in the Ti O2 coatings.
