He served as the dean and deputy Party secretary of the School of Machinery and Vehicles of Beijing Institute of Technology. He was appointed Vice President of the Beijing Institute of Technology in November 2022, Standing Committee Member and Vice President of the Party Committee of the Beijing Institute of Technology in December 2022, and President and Deputy Party Secretary of the Beijing Institute of Technology in April 2024.

Research Interests

He has been engaged in the research of laser micro-nano manufacturing for a long time, and proposed an improved two-temperature model and plasma quantum model to solve two theoretical problems that have long restricted femtosecond laser manufacturing. A new principle of electron dynamic control processing for femtosecond laser is proposed, and the active control of electron dynamics in laser manufacturing and its multi-scale observation system are realized first, which opens up the broad application possibility of electron dynamic control manufacturing. It invented new technologies such as femtosecond laser electronic dynamic control hole, leveling and engraving, developed its new equipment, overcome manufacturing problems such as high-deep-to-diameter ratio ultra-high quality micro-hole making, ultra-precision quality leveling, three-dimensional micro-engraving, etc., and served 37 national major science and technology projects/equipment.

Education

From 1991 to 1995, he studied at Beijing Institute of Technology and graduated with a bachelor's degree.
In 1995, he was recommended to graduate school, and later was assigned to Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology to do joint doctoral training.
In 2000, he received his PhD from Beijing Institute of Technology and went to the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) for postdoctoral research in the same year.

Professional Experience

In 2001, he was appointed Research Associate at the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology).
In 2003, he was appointed Assistant Research Professor at the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology).
In 2006, he was appointed as a professor at the Beijing Institute of Technology.
In 2012, he was appointed deputy Dean of the School of Machinery and Vehicles, Beijing Institute of Technology.
In 2013, he was appointed Deputy Director of the second Department of Machinery and Vehicles of Beijing Institute of Technology.
In 2015, he served as the Dean of the School of Machinery and Vehicles, Beijing Institute of Technology.
In 2019, he was hired as the director of the Academic Committee of Beijing Key Laboratory of Digital Design and Manufacturing, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In the same year, he served as the director of the national Innovation Center for Complex Micro-structure processing technology.

In 2022, he was appointed to the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice President of the Beijing Institute of Technology.
In November 2023, he was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In 2024, he was appointed President and deputy Party secretary of the Beijing Institute of Technology.

Research Achievement

Won the second Prize of National Natural Science (the first finisher, 2016), won the "He Liang He Li" Science and Technology Innovation Award (individual, 2017), was awarded the third National Innovation Award (2023), won the first prize of the Ministry of Education Natural Science Award (the first finisher, 2014), won the first prize of the Ministry of Education Technology Invention Award (the first finisher, 2014), 2018), won the first prize of Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award(the first Finisher, 2022), BSI Outstanding Research Award(individual), and won the Beijing Youth May Fourth Medal (individual, 2011).
So far, a total of 343 SCI papers have been published, with 92 impact factors above 10 and H-factor 70, and all papers have been cited by SCI 11627 times. There are 123 authorized invention patents, of which 112 are first inventors and 4 are U.S. patents. The research results serve 37 national major science and technology projects/equipment. Gave 82 Keynote/Plenary/Invited presentations at mainstream international conferences, and served as the chairman, branch chairman or organizing committee member of international conferences for 22 times. The doctoral students under my supervision have won the Silver Machinery Outstanding Award for 7 times: Excellence Award (2014), Bronze Award (2015,2023), Silver Award (2016), and Excellent Work Award (2017,2021,2022).
As the project leader, I undertook the 973 project of the Ministry of Science and Technology (excellent in final acceptance, ranking first in the field of manufacturing and engineering), and the Major research plan integration project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (excellent in mid-term inspection and conclusion). It was selected as one of the three concluding highlights of the entire program) and key projects, the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund (the final title won the only "excellent" in the engineering field that year), national major special projects, major cultivation projects of the Ministry of Education, and 863 projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
