Abstract

1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene(TATB) was synthesized with a yield of 70.6% via vicarious nucleophilic substitution (VNS) through the animation of 1,3,5-trinitrobenzene (TNB) with 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole (ATA). The product was recrystallized in Sulfuric acid. The purified product was characterized by IR, and the purity was checked by HPLC. VNS reaction was quenched by different acids, and different quencher results in different size of TATB product. The average particle sizes are 55.17, 38.83 μm and 37.29 μm, The factors which affect the size of TATB particles during recrystallization were also investigated by in-situ granule monitoring technique, and the method of preparing TATB product with different size was conveyed.
