Abstract

Fractional Fourier transform is one of the most effective tools to analyze the linear frequency modulated (LFM) signal. We focus on the resolution performances of LFM signal in the fractional Fourier domain (FRFD) and the order of FRFT, and the influence of the order error of FRFT on output signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR). The relationships of signal duration and chirp rate with the FRFD resolution, with the order resolution and with the SNR loss are obtained respectively. In detection and parameter estimation of the LFM signal based on the FRFT, this research can provide some theoretical help for resolution analysis and the order step selection.
