Abstract

The present situation and progress of investigation on combustion instability of solid rocket motors were introduced both at home and abroad in details. This paper attempts to organize these theories and lessons by detail physical concepts, prediction models, experimental methods and numerical simulations. The following viewpoints are proposed: (1) theoretical studies on energy transport mechanism between flow field and acoustic field, as well as the complex effect of aluminum, shall be emphasized; (2) experimental faculties for distributed combustion and pulsing triggering instability shall be established; (3) stability prediction program shall be developed. The analysis could provide a reference for research on combustion instability of solid rocket motors.
