Abstract

The novel polyoxometalate, [Ni(enMe)2]2[Ni(enMe) 2{HMoVI4MoV4V IV8O40(VVO4)}] ·4H2O, was synthesized and characterized by elementary analysis, IR spectra and X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in monoclinic, space group C2/c with a = 26.3006(6), b = 13.6195(3), c = 19.7122(5) Å, β = 105.8330(10)°, V = 6793.0(3) Å3, Z = 4, Dc = 2.566 g/cm3, Mr = 2623.96, μ = 3.507 mm-1, F(000) = 5088, R = 0.0699, wR = 0.1526 and S = 1.018. The compound consists of infinite chains of [Ni(enMe)2] 2[Ni(enMe)2{HMoVI4Mo V4VIV8O40(V VO4)}]·4H2O clusters covalently linked through [Ni(enMe)2] group and another isolated [Ni(enMe) 2]2+ cations, occupying the interchain regions and providing charge compensation.
