Abstract

The title compound was synthesized by hydrothermal method from the system of NaOH -KI-NH4VO3 - H2O, the crystals are monoclinic with space group C2 and have a unit cell with a =10.568, b=10.082(2), c=5.810(2) Å, β=103.87(2)°, V=601.0(3)Å3, Mr=259.97, F(000)=496, μ=37.38cm-1, Z=4, Dc= 2. 87 g·cm-3, D̊=2.85 g·cm-3. The structure was solved by heavy atom method and refined by full-matrix least-squares method to R= 0. 029, Rw=0. 043. The structure of the metavanadate is characterized by (VO3-) chains formed by vertex sharing VO4 tetrahedra, and the Na+,K+ cations are located in the chains.
