Abstract

The thermal decomposition processes of HMX and CL-20 were investigated by a dynamic pressure measuring thermal analysis (DPTA) method and a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The relevant characteristic parameters of physical change and chemical change of test sample in the heating process were obtained. The change relation of evolved gas pressure and the heat flow characteristic parameters with time or temperature in thermal decomposition processes of EMs was analyzed. The corresponding kinetic parameters were obtained. The results derived from these two methods can complement and demonstrate each other, and can offer the reliable evaluation of thermal stability of EMs.
