Abstract

In telephony application, many NEC adaptation algorithms could not be implemented in real time system because of computational complexity. A novel implementation method for NLMS adaptive filter was presented based on sliding window structure and algorithm delay control technique. This method reduces adaptive filter order and computational complexity. Real time implementation of this new NEC structure was then discussed on a digital video system. Test results show that this new system lowers computational complexity significantly comparing to conventional NLMS adaptive filtering structure and meets with the performance requirement of ITU-T G.168 well.
