Abstract
To reach a further understanding on hybrid vehicle drives and their classification, three paths of classification are put forward and discussed in this paper viz. based respectively on the combined component's position in the hybrid drive, on the difference in ratios of hybridization and on the complexity of the hybrid drive line. Through the results of analysis on numerous cases, the validity of this classification is verified. As a result, the method of classification is proved to be useful to guide the design of hybrid vehicle drives and in the understanding of hybrid vehicles.
