Abstract
Analyzes current practice in NCP, pointing out some of their weaknesses. Ways of overcoming them are studied. Integration of NCP with other subsystems, especially with the CAPP system is first considered. To achieve universality, an expert system in the front-module is developed to make all machine tools work efficiently, going beyond the traditional method. All of the above has been demonstrated with an NCP system. Functions of the system have shown to meet the needs of advanced manufacturing such as virtual enterprise.
