Abstract

A novel driving method of Brushless DC Motor (BLDCM) with sinusoidal current is presented. Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) technique is adopted to generate sinusoidal current for motor three-phase windings according to the rotor position information provided by three-phase Hall sensors. The experimental results show that the approach is more effective for the minimization of the torque ripple and audible noise than the traditional square current driving method, and to achieve a smooth low speed operation. Its hardware circuits are simple and reliable.
