Abstract

Focusing on the solid rocket motor propellant/liner interface, research progress on the interface storage properties was reviewed from four aspects: performance failure, component migration, characterization methods and on-line monitoring. The performance failure was firstly discussed from two aspects: interface debonding and crack propagation. The methods of accurately obtaining interface performance parameters and the test methods of interface crack propagation at engine level should be explored, aiming at improving the failure analysis system of engine interface performance. Secondly, the migration mechanism of different components, such as plasticizer and stabilizer, was analyzed. The research cost for revealing the component migration mechanism might be reduced by molecular dynamics simulation. Combining with the engineering experience of component migration inhibition, together with establishing a complete interface component migration simulation and evaluation system, would be significant to study the mechanism of component migration. Thirdly, the characteristics of interface storage properties were discussed from macro, meso and micro levels. A cross-scale comprehensive characterization system of "macro-meso-micro" should be constructed to characterize the storage properties of the interface from different scales and different characteristics. Finally, the main technical approaches for on-line monitoring of interface storage properties were analyzed. Integration, miniaturization and adaptability were key technologies which should be overcome.
