N2 - Economists project that China could overtake the United States as the world's biggest economy by mid-century, yet even after The Reform Era in China, little is known about China's Generation Y, the future leader and backbone of the China's workforce. Constituting approximately 204 million young individuals born between 1980 and 1989, China's Gen Y is beginning to make waves. Growing up in the age of economic boom, technology development, educational availability and parents who want to give it all to their children has made the members of Generation Y is a product of their environment. By bringing new ideas and values into the workplace, Generation Y is a great challenge to those employers across all industries. In this article, generational Y in China's workforce will be first defined, their traits, strengths and weakness in workplace will be analyzed, on the basis of which the suggestions for managing Generation Y will be put forward.
