Abstract

The study on propeller cavitation noise under acceleration or deceleration status is beneficial for extraction of maneuvering features of departing or arriving vessels in port region. By analysis the circumferential variation regulation of propeller cavitaion noise with the phase, the modulation characteristics of the accelerating propeller noise is obtained. Then the influence of modulation feature caused by the cavitation uniformity between blades is illustrated. Furthermore, based on the Hough transform and binarized DEMON spectrogram, the analysis method of the accelerating propeller noise is proposed to estimate the acceleration parameter of the propeller. Applying the proposed algorithm to analyze accelerating propeller noise measured in a cavitation tunnel, its feasibility is validated.
