Abstract

The influence of six additives on the, impact sensitivity of polyurethane- bonded RDX (RDX/PU), the explosion propagation under impact and the quantity of sample residue after reaction are studied. The formal kinetic parameters of thermal decomposition of RDX and additive mixtures are calculated using the data obtained from DTA. The results show that additives can markedly desensitize RDX/PU, but in various degrees. The influence of additives on the decomposition of RDX is compared with their role of desensitization to RDX. Some correlation has been obtained.
