N2 - The four-coordinated bis(benzyl sulfide) complex L1Al(SCH2Ph)2 (1) was synthesized in good yield by reacting one equivalent of L1AlH2 (L1 = HC(CMeNAr)2, Ar = 2,4,6-Me3C6H2) with two equivalents of benzyl mercaptan. The reactions of L2Li (L2 = HC(CMeNAr)2, Ar = 2-iPrC6H4) with SnCl2 and AlCl3 in a molar ratio of 1:1 were carried out at room temperature, resulted in two new compounds, CH{(CH3)CN-2-iPrC6H4}2SnCl (2) and CH{(CH3)CN-2-iPrC6H4}2AlCl2 (3). All compounds were characterized by 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy, single crystal X-ray structural analysis and elemental analysis. The efficient catalytic performances of 1–3 for the hydroboration of organic compounds with carbonyl groups were investigated.
