Abstract

A high stable 84 W acousto-optic Q-switch solid-state green laser, which is pumped by thirty 20 W high power laser diodes was reported. Through theoretical analysis and experimental research, the resonator was designed and optimized in order to compress pulse-width. In experiment, the double acousto-optic Q-switch was employed with single Nd:YAG rod and a type II phase matched KTP crystal (φ = 23.6°, θ = 90° under the condition of 24°C , its size is 7 mm × 7 mm × 7 mm) was applied for frequency doubling. The resonator is the flat-concave type. Under the pumping current of 25 A, a maximum green power of 84 W was generated at 10 kHz repetition rate and 45 ns pulse-width, leading to 14.3% of optical-optical conversion efficiency and ±3% instability.
