Abstract

In order to improve the properties of HTPB propellant, HTPB propellants with hyperbranched polyurethanes were prepared by using hyperbranched polyurethane (HBPU) as assistant binder. The compatibility of HBPU with main components of HTPB propellant was studied by using DSC method, and the influence of mechanical properties and rheology behaviors of HBPU on HTPB propellant were also investigated. The results show that the compatibility between HBPU and AP, HTPB is good. The apparent viscosity of HTPB propellant slurry increases with the increment of HBPU content. The maximum tensile strength and maximum elongation of HTPB propellant with 7% HBPU in total binder weight are raised 24.17% and 22.84% and compared with the blank HTPB propellant, respectively.
