Abstract

Linear frequency modulation (LFM) signals are often used in sonars. Based on the fact that LFM signal has a good focusing property in the fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) domain, a novel anti-reverberation algorithm was presented. It is based on fractional Fourier transform, in which LFM signal is separated from the reverberation through a narrow-band filter in fractional Fourier domain. Thus the effect of the reverberation is readily subtracted from the received signal. With the actual reverberation data and the LFM pulse for separation, satisfactory results were obtained.
