Abstract
In this paper, after solved the problem that an elliptic cavity in piezoelectric ceramics with uniform loading at infinity by means of the Stroh formalism method, we analyze the limit of stress and electric field carefully when the elliptical cavity changes into a crack gradually. The result in the zone very near the crack tip is distinguished with the result in the zone far away the crack tip. At the last part of the paper, we present the calculated results of a PZT-4 material.
