Abstract

A new autofocus method for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) application is proposed based on the instantaneous frequency estimation. The short-time Fourier transform (STFT) is utilized to estimate the instantaneous frequency. Then the PGA technique is applied with single iteration. The proposed method can perform well in lower signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and it needs less computation cost than the conventional PGA technique. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach.
