Abstract
A compact MIMO antenna using the metallic rim as radiators is presented for mobile terminal applications. The ground clearance between the chassis ground and the rim is only 2 mm. By etching two slots on the metallic rim, the proposed design can achieve a 2 × 2 MIMO antenna configuration for the entire 698-960 MHz and 1710-2690 MHz bands of LTE spectrum. Lumped circuits and varactors are adopted to facilitate the input match and frequency tuning of the antenna.
