Abstract

RDX/AP/SiO2 composite energetic material was prepared by sol-gel method. The structure of RDX/AP/SiO2 composite material was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrometer and BET method. The result shows that SiO2 gel and RDX/AP are the matrix and filler respectively. Using thermal analysis (TGA/DSC), the thermal properties of the composite materials were measured. It shows that the decomposition temperature of AP in the composite materials is decreased greatly. Most of AP decomposes along with decomposition of RDX. The decomposition enthalpy of the composite material increases by 603.7 J/g, compared to that of physical mixtures. Therefore the strong interaction of RDX and AP can accelerate the decomposition of each other.
