N2 - Pneumatic rod cylinder servo systems are always applied in industrial automation, medical instrument, national defense, and other fields, due to their unique advantages such as simple mechanism, zero pollution, low cost, high power weight ratio, and so on. In recent years, with the further development of pneumatic technology, pneumatic rod cylinder servo systems are also used in intelligent manufacturing and medical technology. In Fig. 15.1a, a pneumatic actuator invented by Wuxi Huatong Pneumatic Manufacture Co., Ltd. It is used in position control of air door in the power plant and the pneumatic rod cylinder is the key component. In Fig. 15.1b, a pneumatic surgical robot driven by pneumatic cylinders has been designed by a field research laboratory for Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan [1].
