Abstract
The reaction of trimethylaluminum with a salen {salenH2 = [N,N′-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine]} ligand in toluene afforded the complex [Me2AlOC6H4CH=NCH2-] n. It shows a one-dimensional structure in the crystal state with pentacoordinate aluminum. This complex was characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray structure, and elemental analysis. The reaction of trimethylaluminum with a salen {salenH2 = [N,N′-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine]} ligand afforded an aluminum-centered chain structure of composition [Me 2AlOC6H4CH=NCH2-]n in the crystal.
