Abstract

Combustion of Mg/NaNO3 fuel-rich propellants had been studied under different experimental conditions. The experimental results showed that the burning rate of the Mg/NaNO3 propellant firstly increases, and then decreases with increasing the pressure. When the content of magnesium powder is about 70% in the propellant, the burning rate of the propellant reaches a maximum. The burning rate of the propellant increases with decreasing particle size of magnesium powders and sodium nitrate. After adding fluoride to the propellant, the burning rate decreases, and the combustion characteristics changes.
