Investigation of the flow field inside an oil distribution mechanism at high speed

Abstract

The effects of centrifugal force of oil distribution mechanism in lubrication system at high speed will impact the performance of effective flow area, and change the inflow of lubricating oil. It is needed to study the flow field characteristics inside the oil distribution mechanism. First of all, the theoretical research has been studied on it, and the theoretical flow model of oil distribution mechanism in lubrication system is established. Then the numerical flow field model was established based on the finite volume method and RNG k-s turbulence model. Through the numerical analysis of three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations of the lubricating medium inside the oil distribution mechanism, the flow field distribution of lubricant oil was obtained. The influence of rotation speed and supply pressure on the inflow of lubricating oil and flow field characteristics inside an oil distribution mechanism was analyzed. The study was verified by comparing theoretical and numerical results. The results indicate that the theoretical model and the numerical are very good consistency. With the increase of speed of rotation, the inflow of lubricating oil of oil distribution mechanism will be reduced; the increase of supply pressure will increase the throughflow characteristics of lubricating oil inside the oil distribution mechanism, and make the oil flow rate increases. This research can be used to improve the design and improve the performance of automatic transmission, as well as the cooling efficiency of the rotary machinery and oil drilling process.
