Abstract

Inter-satellite link (ISL) design is an important part of the design for satellite networks. Dynamic characteristic of ISLs affects the network performance. We propose a ISL link stability model in this paper. Based on the stability model, a link design scheme for satellite networks is presented. The scheme includes static and dynamic link design phases where static and dynamic types of ISLs are treated respectively. Finally the performance of ISL design scheme is evaluated in a LEO/MEO two-layered satellite network. The simulation results shows that the link design scheme is applicable to requirement of diverse services.
