Abstract

The influences of the glyceryl trinitrate/diethyleneglycol dinitrate (NG + DEGDN) and bis (2, 2-dinitropropyl) acetal/bis (2, 2-dinitropropyl) formal (A3) plasticizers on performances of composite 3, 3-bis (azidomethyl) oxetane-tetrahydrofuran co-polyether (BAMO-THF) propellants have been studied, respectively. BAMO-THF/NG + DEGDN propellants showed higher burning rates and better mechanical properties than BAMO-THF/A3 propellants. In addition, the influence of a kind of organic transition metal combustion catalyst (OME) on burning rates and mechanical properties of BAMO-THF propellants has also been investigated. It was found that OME could increase the burning rates of BAMO-THF propellants and improve mechanical properties for BAMO-THF propellants. XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectra) analysis indicated that there existed interaction between OME and azide groups in BAMO-THF copolyether.
