Abstract
To solve the problem that clutch is badly worn during the hill-start process of heavy off-road vehicles equipped with AMT, this paper presented an improved strategy of hill-start. The process of hill-start was divided into four parts and the analysis of reducing the friction work was processed respectively for each part based on former clutch control strategy and hill-start data. In order to prevent the engine flameout during the hill-start, closed-loop control of the clutch engaging process and the decline rate of the engine speed was used in the improved control strategy. The new clutch control strategy for hill-start was designed and carried out tests on different slopes achieving satisfactory results.
