Abstract

Aim: To identify PEO-PPO-PEO triblock copolymer using PGC/MS techniques. Methods: The polyethylene oxide (PEO), polypropylene oxide (PPO) and PEO-PPO-PEO triblock copolymers were analyzed by pyrolysis gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (PGC/MS) under suitable operating condition. Results and Conclusion: On total ion chromatograms of PGC/MS for PEO-PPO-PEO triblock copolymers the hybrid characteristic pyrolyzates were found at 16.13 min. These two compounds are very useful to confirm the copolymer structure and the copolymerization processes. The possible fracture position of hybrid dimers in mass spectrometry were deduced.
