Abstract

The title compound (H2en)6[As8V 14O42(SO4)]2·8H2O was synthesized by hydrothermal method and its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c with a = 20.9235(4), b = 11.9382(2), c = 43.5783(6) Å, β = 102.13°, V = 10642.1(3) Å3, Z = 4, Mr = 4678.01 g/mol, Dc = 2.920 g/cm3, F(000) = 8944, μ = 7.437 mm-1, R = 0.0735, wR = 0.1361, S = 1.125, (Δ/σ)max = 0.001, (Δρ)max = 1.812 and (Δρ)min = -1.537 e/Å3. The compound is constructed from two [As8V14O42(SO 4)]6- cluster anions, eight water molecules and six deprotonated ethylenediamine cations, which are connected by hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework.
