Abstract

The effect of the mechanical stress on magnetic properties of the Tb xDy1-xFe2 alloys was studied. Under coupled magnetomechanical loading, compressive strain and demagnetization were measured. Magnetic-domain switching process explained the nonlinear behavior of the strain and demagnetization. The results show that the coercive stress and Young's modulus can be obtained from the measured stress-strain and demagnetization curves.
