Abstract

Uniform and compact ZnO nano-particles were synthesized on Si substrate via a polymer capping method. The morphology and optical property of as-synthesized samples were characterized by SEM, AFM and PL spectra. It was observed that pH value of the precursor had a great effect on the dispersibility and size of the nano-particles, which further induced a change of the peak position of the PL spectra in ultraviolet range. In detail, experiment results indicated that the PL spectra peaks in ultraviolet range had a red-shift as the size of nano-particles increased, conforming to the quantum size effects.
