Abstract

Al-PTFE, Al-Fe2O3 and Al-Ni reactive materials were made into reactive fragments to research the reaction pressure characteristics about metal-fluorinepolymer, thermit and intermetallic compound in the closed test chamber. The fragments were driven by ballistic gun, impacted the front-target and entered into the closed test chamber, undergoing a violent chemical reaction. The dynamic reaction pressures were measured by pressure sensors, which distributed in the chamber wall. The results showed that with the same volume and the same experimental condition of impacting 2 mm-LY12 front-target with a speed of 1200 m/s, Al-Ni reactive fragment had the greatest value of maximum reaction pressure and Al-PTFE reactive fragments had the lest. The energy release efficiency of Al-Ni, Al-Fe2O3 and Al-PTFE is 72%, 40% and 10%. The negative pressure caused by the secondary reaction of reactive materials is also observed in this experiment.
