Abstract
An advanced battery management system was developed for completely electric vehicles, the only one electric vehicles industrialize at present. The distributed control system structure based on a single chip computer effectively monitors various operating parameters of the power battery in real time such as the state of charge (SOC), total voltage, total current, single module voltage, and temperatures at specific points in the battery package. The system then checks the battery state, perform fault diagnostics and manage battery temperatures. The system uses computerized calibration and shares messages with other systems in the vehicle though the CAN communications system. Tests in a BK6121EV show that the battery voltage is measured to within 0.01 V and that the system is stable and reliable.
