Abstract

In this paper, a compact eight-element MIMO antenna is presented for 5G mobile terminal applications. The proposed antenna structure consists of four blocks, and each block has two tightly arranged inverted F antennas (IFAs). The edge-to-edge distance between the two IFAs is only 1 mm. Inductor is used to improve the port isolation in each block. The size of the block is 27.4 mm × 4.5 mm. There is no ground clearance between the antenna and the platform. The simulated results show that the bandwidth of the proposed MIMO antenna is 260 MHz, which is sufficient for the 3400-3600 MHz band.
