Abstract

Distributed radar system has many working modes, such as target search and detection, receiving coherence, transmitting coherence and SAR imaging, so it has important research value. The realization of the above modes depends on the accurate positioning of radar nodes themselves, that is, spatial synchronization. However, when a distributed radar system is in a dense building area, the satellite-based time/space/frequency (phase) synchronization performance will be weakened due to the reduction of the number of satellites visible at the same time. Therefore, it is necessary to correct spatial synchronization errors based on radar echo data in distributed radar scenarios with time/space/frequency (phase) synchronization errors. In this paper, a robust spatial synchronization correction technique for distributed radar system is completed based on inter-platform ranging information. Firstly, a target echo model of distributed radar with synchronization error is established, and the influence of positioning error on distributed radar system is analyzed. Then, a robust spatial synchronization calibration technique for distributed radar system is proposed, and an achievable hardware scheme is constructed. Finally, the validity of the proposed scheme is verified by numerical simulations.
