Abstract

With the growing complexity of the weapon systems, the expense of proving ground testing for the weapon developments soon becomes prohibitive. It is very necessary to improve the cost-effectiveness ratio of the weapon tests with the simulation technologies. A study of the developments and the technical requirements of the simulation technologies for the weapon proving ground show that simulating a weapon system usually involves coordination of multiple engineering subsystems and cross-discipline knowledge. It is suggested that the collaborative simulation technologies should be applied to the proving ground testing. An HLA-based, collaborative simulation framework for weapon proving ground was given, based on comparison and evaluation of various collaborative technologies. The functions of each component of the framework were proposed. At last, the methods for integrating the simulation tools were summarized.
