Abstract

This paper provides a method for both electromagnetic and thermomechanical design of a broadband hightemperature radome wall with a novel graded porous structure. The electromagnetic, mechanical, and thermal properties of the radome material are temperature-dependent and porosity-dependent, leading to nonlinear coupled problems. The transmission performance of the graded porous structure in the frequency range of 1-100 GHz is investigated via the transfer matrix method. Meanwhile, the formulas of the temperature distribution of the onedimensional steady heat conduction problem with temperature-dependent and porosity-dependent thermal conductivity are derived analytically. The thermal stress distribution due to temperature gradients and laminate structures is calculated. Results indicate that the graded porous structure has good transmission performance at 1-100 GHz and meets the requirement of thermomechanical characteristics for high-temperature applications.
