Abstract

To contrast the deformation response of thin plates subjected to two types of dynamic loads, numerical study on the clamped circular targets under air explosion and drop hammer impact loads was carried out. The results show that the final pit shape of thin plates is approximately in agreement. The difference rate of deflection and deformation energy is less than 2%, and that of the pit volume is less than 8%. The impulse imparted to target, the velocity of target center point and average overload of plate under blast loads are significantly higher than that of impact loads, and the difference rate are more than 75%. The action time of impact loads is about an order of magnitude longer than that of blast loads. It can achieve the same deflection and deformation energy under different dynamic loads, but the overload and impulse of thin target is obviously higher under blast loads.
