Computer simulation of automobile fuel economy

Abstract

A mathematical model of automobile fuel economy was established and its computer simulation program was compiled. The simulator calculated the fuel economy of a EQ140 type of automobile. The simulation result coincides with that was obtained from the real automobile. Parameter sensitivity was analyzed. Automobile fuel economy was influenced by a variety of parameters and the mechanical efficiency and total quality of automobile are obvious ones. The rolling resistance coefficient, air resistance coefficient and frontal area have less influence.
