Abstract

Power split hybrid electric vehicle has a broad prospect because of achieving any regulation of engine state through planetary gear. This paper proposes a power split city bus based on dual planetary gear. An accompanying rule-based energy management strategy is developed. To verify the effectiveness of configuration and strategy, MATLAB/Simulink model is implemented. A dynamic programming (DP) global optimization method is also employed as a benchmark of proposed method, the simulation results show that the strategy achieve a significant improvement compared with conventional ICE sample, and show similar fuel economy compared with DP, which proves the effectiveness of proposed strategy.
