Abstract

In this paper a series of RE2MgNi9 hydrogen storage alloys were synthesized by vacuum induction melting method. The products were modified by heat treatment under argon protection for at least 5h at different temperature. The structure of the alloys were tested by SEM and XRD. The electrochemical characteristics of the alloys were tested by LANDAN. The results showed that the heat treated alloys have higher discharge capability which can reach 353.7mAh/g and have a remarkable cycle life. This shows that this new kind hydrogen storage alloy is suit for power battery.
