Abstract
This paper is to calculate the drag coefficient of a new structural parachute which is composed of flexible ribbon and metallic canopy by using synthetic method. Based on the similarity theory, the empirical formula to calculate the drag coefficient of the canopy was established with the aid of Fluent simulation. The interaction of the flow around the bomb was also considered. Then, the empirical formula to calculate the drag coefficient of the ribbon-parachute was established on the basis of wind tunnel test data. In addition, a method to determine the balanced aerodynamic parameters affected by a number of factors could be found out. The presented approach and empirical formula could be referred for further research.
