Abstract

The use of artificial neural network (ANN) based method for prediction of flood disasters was studied. An example of flood disaster area in China from 1949 to 1994 was used to demonstrate the usefulness of the method. The results showed that the use of ANN with the capacity of mapping or function approximating on the flood disaster prediction problem was simple, reliable and valid.
