Abstract
In this paper, the detailed characteristics of the conically conformal microstrip antenna element and the mutual coupling effects between two antenna elements are analyzed by using the rigorous conformal FDTD algorithm in the Cartesian coordinate. The effectiveness and correctness of the method are verified by comparing the numerical results with the corresponding ones presented in the existing literatures and the experimental results. Based on the parallel FDTD method, the characteristics of microstrip antenna array mounted on the conical ground is also investigated.
