Abstract
Based on the mechanism of the microstrip antenna, two practical broadband antennas, namely the stacked dual-patch and the capacitance compensated one, operated in the L and C band, respectively, are simulated by the conformal FDTD method. The results showed that the impedance bandwidths are improved significantly compared with the conventional single patch case. In order to treat the coaxial probe feeding easily in the modeling, a suitable coordinate transform is introduced. In addition, the non-uniform meshing technique is employed to accelerate numerical simulation.
