Abstract

This paper presents a broadband high-gain dipole antenna operating in X-band. The antenna consists of a printed dipole antenna and a resonant cavity formed by a broadband Electromagnetic Band-Gap structure and a metal ground. It is worth noting that the EBG structure consists of multilayer dielectric unprinted slabs with different dielectric constant, thickness and interlayer spacing. Moreover the antenna obtains high-gain performance maintaining the impedance bandwidth. The peak Gain of the antenna is 8.2dB, the 3-dB gain bandwidth is 38% and the footprint is 0. 49\lambda\times 1.46\lambda\times 0.16\lambda,
